IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Devil Rays Swim Meet Guidelines
May 27th
Hi Devil Ray Families!
Welcome to the Devil Rays swim team. We are looking forward to a fun and exciting swim season. Thank you to all the families who have already signed up for jobs and key positions! Nearly all families have met their minimum job fulfillment and some even went beyond what is asked of them. Even with most families volunteering, we are a small team and still have jobs that need to be filled, especially for the home meets. Please sign up for more jobs if you are able to. The minimum volunteer requirement per family is 3 points this season. Below are some important information:
- Parent Meeting - There is a parent meeting Thursday June 2 at 6:30 pm. Join us at the pool to get information about the meets, have your questions answered, and meet other families.
- Mock Meet - The mock meet is Tuesday June 7 at 6 pm. The mock meet will help us understand how a real meet is run, learn our jobs, test equipment, and for coaches to get swimmer times. Please declare your swimmers and sign up for jobs. Try to sign up for jobs that you've signed up for the real meets so that you can understand what is required. Click here to sign up.
- Volunteering - The minimum volunteer requirements for this season is 3 points per family. Key positions like Banquet Coordinator, Concession Manager, Spirit Wear Coordinator, etc. counts as 3 points. If you remove yourself from a job, please make sure to select another job to meet your minimum requirements. Again, please consider signing up for more jobs if you can. Click here to sign up for jobs.
- Declaring Swimmers - Families must inform the coaches of their swimmer’s intention to attend a meet. The deadline for declaration is the Sunday prior to the meet by 9am. The coaches rely on this information to set up the line of events. If you know your schedule for the season, you can declare your swimmers for all the meets ahead of time instead of doing it weekly. Since coaches cannot change the line of events, undeclared swimmers will not be able to swim in the meet. To declare your swimmers, go to this link, select “Meet Entry”, click “Edit”, select “Not attending this meet” or “Attending this meet”, then click “Save”.
- Swimmer & Volunteer Check In - Swimmers will enter the pool and find the coaches, we will get the swimmers their number (written on their arm) then they will head to the Devereaux side and get ready for warm-ups. Warm-ups are 4:30pm for home meets and 5:00pm for away meets. Volunteers will find Janice Bowers or Lon Le at the meet to get signed in for their job.
- Equipment - Swimmers need goggles, swim cap, and a one piece swimsuit for practices and meets. Swimsuits can be purchased at All America Swimwear. There is a 25% off sale going on right now. Swimmers can use their previous year's swimsuit if it has the same team color, black with blue on the sides. Click here to get swimsuit and equipment information. Make sure to select the correct colors (black with blue sides), the link to All America Swimwear sometimes shows a different color.
- Resources - The Swim Meet 101 page contains information for volunteer check-in. The Swim Meet Rules contains information for swimmer signup, check-in, and warm-ups. These are great resources to help understand what to bring and where to go on the day of the meet.
Please email [email protected] if you have any questions. Thank you families! We cannot run a swim meet without you.
